Have you ever wanted to travel to Africa, do you crave new experiences, meet like-minded people and wish to support conservation in action for an endangered species? Come and join us in our volunteer programs, at Ashia!
Whether you are just in need of a change… on a university break… a year long journey of self-discovery, or you simply wish to help endangered species with hard work, dedication and passion.
Our volunteer programs offer manifold options at the sanctuary and allow you to volunteer with us for as long as you like. Additionally, as several cheetah are earmarked each year for wilding and release onto Private Game Reserves and National Parks in South Africa, as a longer-term volunteer (>= 1 month) you may have the opportunity to accompany our staff on one of these cheetah translocations. On your journey you will either accompany a cheetah from Ashia to one of our wilding areas or you will help to bring a successfully wilded cheetah from there to a private game reserve/national park for final release. All volunteers must be 18 and above and preferably hold an international drivers licence.

Modern Volunteer House
If you don’t speak English fluently, don’t worry! We have volunteers from all over the world, sharing our dream at Ashia. You’ll work alongside our family of experienced and knowledgeable staff. This gives you an amazing opportunity to have hands on experience with our cheetahs – something you will cherish for the rest of your life. As a volunteer at Ashia, you’ll be staying in our modern and fully renovated Volunteer House situated inside the sanctuary. Along with your fellow volunteers and staff, you can braai (Afrikaans for ‘barbeque’) or relax in peace with a cup of tea. Enjoy overlooking the picturesque Drakenstein mountains – Ashia really will be a home away from home.
There are plenty of fun activities to reward yourself with after a productive day. With Paarl and Stellenbosch just a short drive away, visit bars and restaurants. Sit with your feet cooling in our dam watching the sunset. You’ll get two days off a week to explore the area as you wish! Go on local wine tours, hike around the nearby mountain ranges, relax at the beach, and explore the best city in the world.
